Just had microneedling or a peel? The first 72 hours decide everything

By the Perfect 5 Clinic team · Updated July 2026

Woman with calm, healing skin after a clinical treatment

Patients think the clinic visit is the treatment. Skin specialists know better: microneedling and peels don’t improve your skin on the bed — they trigger a healing response that does the improving over the next three days. Sabotage the healing, sabotage the result. Here’s the exact protocol we send home with every patient.

Hour 0–24: leave it alone

  • Expect redness like a mild sunburn and a tight, warm feeling — this is the treatment working, not a reaction.
  • No washing for the first 6–8 hours; after that, only lukewarm water and the gentle cleanser your clinician gave you.
  • No makeup, no actives (vitamin C, retinol, AHAs/BHAs), no gym sweat, no swimming.
  • Sleep slightly propped up if you tend to puff; change your pillowcase to a fresh one.

Day 2–3: hydrate, protect, resist

  • Moisturise more than feels necessary — healing skin drinks it up.
  • Sunscreen SPF 50, indoors included, reapplied every 3–4 hours. This is non-negotiable in Delhi sun.
  • Peeling or flaking may start — do not pick, peel or “help it along”. Every flake you pull can become a mark that outlives the treatment.
  • Skip facials, threading, waxing and saunas for the full week.

When to call us instead of Google

  • Redness that increases after day 2 instead of fading
  • Yellowish crusting, pus, or fever — signs of infection, rare but urgent
  • Intense itching that moisturiser doesn’t calm
  • Any reaction that simply feels wrong to you — trust that instinct

Every Perfect 5 patient gets their clinic’s direct number at discharge. Aftercare questions at 9 pm are part of the job — call, don’t guess.

Follow the boring routine and the payoff arrives around day five: skin that looks like you slept eight hours for a month. The treatment starts the engine; these 72 hours steer it.

Quick answers

When can I wear makeup after microneedling?

Wait at least 24–48 hours, until the micro-channels close. Applying makeup sooner risks pushing pigments and bacteria into healing skin, which can cause breakouts or irritation.

Is peeling skin after a chemical peel normal?

Yes — light flaking between days 2 and 5 is the treatment working. The rule is simple: moisturise, protect with SPF, and never pick or pull the flakes.

When should I worry after a treatment?

Call your clinic if redness increases after day two, if you see yellowish crusting or pus, or if itching doesn't settle with moisturiser. Those are check-in signs, not Google-it signs.
